Nasal airway obstruction, or difficulty breathing through one or both sides of your nose, is a common patient complaint and one that is usually totally correctable. Deviated nasal septum's, nasal septal bony spurs, and deficiency of the internal nasal valves of your nose can all lead to significantly decreased nasal airflow. The surgeons at Gallatin Valley surgical arts are expert at correcting these problems.Initial consultation includes a history and physical examination and typically requires radiographic imaging of the inside of the nose, performed right at our facility.Surgery involves an outpatient procedure under anesthesia. Postoperatively the patient can expect a splint on their nose for approximately 1 week.
After its removal there is usually no significant bruising and minimal swelling. Specific instructions will be given foreach individual patient. Rarely do patients complain of significant pain but there is a stuffy feeling for the first 7 to 10 days after surgery. Many patients experience significant relief of nasal congestion with breathing air through the nose even within the first several days after surgery. Nasal airway surgery is performed through the patient's insurance.
